New Lviv stadium is constructed at the 9 hectares in the green zone of the city suburbs. It is planned that the first match that the stadium will host will be between Ukraine and Austria’s national football teams.
Lviv company participated in the project elaboration but the main designer is the Austrian drafting department which created design of the Warsaw Stadium for EURO 2012 and all stadium destined for EURO 2008 in Austria. By the way, the Lviv stadium is the modified and renovated project of the Klagenfurt arena (Austria). It has more than 30.000 seats and all of them are covered with the roof and provided with spectacular field of vision. Those who won’t work out to see the most fascinating moments could see their repeats at the big and modern monitors. There are situated above the northern and southern stands. Behind the western stand there will be the information and entertainment zone with media center and conference room, offices, clubs and restaurants.
Lviv will see only three matches of the group B during the EURO 2012.
According to the project, on the outskirts of Lviv, on the plot of 9 hectares there will be built the stadium of 5th generation - one of the most modern in Europe. It will meet the new standards set by UEFA to the stadiums, which include the development of new technologies in construction, information and digital spheres, as well as new demands for comfort fans.
The project developer of the stadium is “Design Bureau of Albert Wimmer”, which designed the stadiums for the finals of the UEFA European Football Championship of 2008 in Austria and also builds a stadium in Warsaw for Euro 2012. Lviv Company Arnica works together with the Austrians.
Design of the stadium is simple and modern. The total capacity is 33 000 seats, about 300 of which are for honorary guests in the VIP-zone on the third level and about 150 seats - in the zone of skyboxes on the fourth level.
Lviv arena will have three floors. On the ground floor there will be placed the underground parking, two others floors will contain two-tier tribunes, VIP-sector and ancillary premises.
The design of seats creates the maximum effect of the presence of spectators on the field. The absence of “dead” zones and modern lighting that provides high-quality video creates the excellent visibility of the field. All seats are under cover, part of the canopy is transparent - for a more favorable growth of the lawn.
The western part of Lviv stadium with length of 215,7 m contains: conference halls; VIP-clubs, galleries and restaurants (1260 m²); equipped Media Center (640 m²); variety of learning centers (280 m²); administrative offices (780 m²); offices with restaurant (1050 m²), etc. There are 1593 parking places for the staff of the service sector and VIP-guests. The area for vans and cars of broadcasters will be 6000 m².
For the safety of spectators at the stadium there will be used the latest fire and security systems in accordance with European norms for stadiums of this level.
The center passage in the stadium is equipped so that it could accommodate catering establishments. It is also a vital link in the security system as it allows evacuating viewers quickly.
For vehicles of people with disabilities there are separate places for parking and in the north side of the arena there will be a system of ramps. To ascend to the upper sectors the persons with disabilities will be able using special lifts. There are also several pieces in the sectors - with 50 seats for the disabled, some of them - in the forefront.
The stadium will meet all functional requirements of UEFA, in particular, lighting systems, sound, equipment, telecommunications, security and access. The stadium will have two video screens on the north and south sides.
